On December 12, the event "Lazdijai Region Tourism Pearls 2024" and the forum "Veisiejai - Resort Area 2026: Reality or Dream" were held at the Veisiejai Culture House.
During the event, we briefly presented the activities of TIC, awarded the Lazdijai Region Tourism Pearls of 2024, celebrated new starts, and listened to the projects planned by the Lazdijai District Municipality.
Lazdijai Region Tourism Pearls of 2024:
1. Aštrioji Kirsna Manor - for the successful development of tourism services.
2. Recreation area "Milkės karibai", which was recognized as the best recreation place on the booking platform by tourists!
3. Vila Monika - for the successful start of tourism in the Lazdijai region.
4. Restaurant “Liepų ratas” - for a successful start of tourism.
5. “Dusia Resort 777” – for the successful development of tourism services.
6. Lazdijai region guide Jonas Malinauskas for his active work in attracting tourist groups from Lithuania and abroad.
7. Recreation area "Beržų namai" - for a successful start of tourism.
Special attention was paid to Veisiejai as a future resort area. The participants of the forum “Veisiejai – Resort Area 2026: Reality or Dream” were Lazdijai District Mayor Ausma Miškienienė, Lazdijai TIC Director Eglė Kubilienė, International Artists’ Plein Air Organizer, Honorary Citizen of Veisiejai Region Vytautas Žukauskas, local historian, founder of a private calendar museum, and book author Albinas Jarmala. They shared the most important aspects of creating such areas, highlighted the advantages and positive benefits not only for the tourism sector, but also for local residents. Druskininkai TVIC Director Rimantas Palionis and Druskininkai Municipality Tourism, Communication and Culture Department Deputy Head Antanas Urbonas and Birštonas TIC Director Rūta Kapačinskaitė shared their experience in developing resorts and positively assessed the attractiveness of Veisiejai. Kristina Bavėjan, Senior Specialist of the Tourism Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania, presented the procedure for granting the status of a resort territory. The event was moderated by Zenonas Sabaliauskas, Elder of Veisiejai.
The event dedicated to representatives of the tourism sector was crowned by a special orchestra of the South Lithuania International Accordionist Association "With Love for the Accordion", with more than 70 participants. We sincerely thank Irina Gudebskienė for this gift! Watching and listening to such a large number of musicians was an invaluable experience!
We would like to thank the Lazdijai Cultural Center, Veisiejai Cultural House, Lazdijai District Municipality and Head of the Strategic Planning and Investment Project Management Department Ieva Stalevičiūtė, the restaurant "Liepų ratas" and a large group of representatives of our region's tourism sector who found time to chat, share their work and gain ideas for the future during the whirlwind of the Christmas period.
