In the building of the NKVD, which stood in 1944-1953, Soviet occupiers and coloborants imprisoned, tortured and killed partisans, their liaison officers and supporters, and other Lithuanian patriots. On the occasion of the Defenders of Freedom Day in 2018, a monument to the heroes of the guerrilla struggle in Seiriai was solemnly unveiled and consecrated here. Author of the Cross, sculptor Juozas Videika. The cross was consecrated by Seirijus Švč. Pastor of St. Mary's Scapular Church Sigitas Bitkauskas. Volunteers from 108 companies of the first team of Dainava district fired salvation salutes in memory of the victims of the NKVD.
