in 1863 June 29 the Battle of Statiškė took place, in which a rebel unit led by Povilas Suzin (1839-1863) and a Russian army unit led by Colonel Skrodulis and Captain Štern von Gviazdovskis fought. In addition to the commander, another 32 rebels were killed in the battle, and over thirty were wounded. After the death of Povilas Suzin, the leadership was taken over by Tadas Šeligovskis, who led the remaining surviving rebels towards Poland. A few days later, the rebel leader's wife dug up her husband's remains from a common grave and it is assumed that she reburied them in Seiriju cemetery.
