The partisans belonged to the Taurus partisan district. in 1945 April 18 Marijampolė aps. Ovens vls. (now - Lazdija district municipality) Varta village. in the vicinity, in the forest of Bukta, the 94th detachment of the border troops of the NKVD carried out a military-Chekist operation. According to archival documents, 14 partisans of the Perkūnas team were killed in the fighting. The others retreated towards Bukta Swamp. The army pursued them further and killed 19 more partisans. According to witnesses, 5-6 partisans were killed, the following are known: Juozas Barulis, g. in 1925 Navavalakis village ; Juozas Pauža, g. in 1925 Navavalakis village; Juozas Petrauskas (no data); Juozas Rėkus, g. in 1912 Skersbali village Furnace floor ; Juozas Šmitas, g. in 1927 Tūriškii village
