in 1944 A battle took place in the Traka forest between the partisans of lieutenant Vladas Stepulevičius, nicknamed Mindaugas, and the fourth commandant of the 6th NKVD border troops. Antanas Stepulevičius, Boleslovas Stočkūnas and Germans Otas Baueris and Adolfas Mercas were killed in the battle. It was the first partisan resistance battle that took place in the Trako forest.
