Place of Lithuanian partisan fighting and death (Ginčionių village)

The struggle for freedom

There are two monuments in this place. One - for the partisans of Ginčioni village who died for the freedom of Lithuania, the second monument is dedicated to the memory of Jonas Kukučionis Bastūnas.

In the village of Ginčionių ( According to Klajūn's 1950 testimony to the MGB ), in 1946-1948 there was a bunker of partisans of officer Juozapavičius' group near Kavaliauskienė. Bronius Kavaliauskas set up a bunker in the former potato pit at his parents' homestead, took the partisan oath, got a weapon and became a partisan Jaunučius. His hiding brother was also helped by his sister, partisan liaison Antosė: she brought food, washed clothes, and told him what was going on. The second bunker was also installed in the Kavaliauskai kluona, so the partisans used to stop by here as well. Guerrilla commanders were also in this bunker more than once. in 1951 March 14 early in the morning, while Broniis was spending the night in a bunker installed in a potato pit, the homestead was surrounded by thugs and encavedists. Told to surrender. Not wanting to fall into their hands, Bronius shot himself in the head. The body was dumped in the Seiriju market square, and the sister Antosė was locked in the basement of the barn. Bronius' body was buried in Seiri, next to the German cemetery. He was reburied in the general grave of Seiriju partisans in 1990. October 27
