This cemetery is one of the largest in Alytus county in terms of its area (1.5 ha). Over 2,000 tombstones may have survived in them. It is unknown exactly when the Jews moved to Seirius. 1820 There were 345 houses in the town, 100 of which belonged to Lithuanians, 195 to Jews, and 50 to Germans. Before World War I, about 400 families lived in Seiriai. 1921 there were over a thousand Jews in the town. It was one of the largest Jewish communities in Alytus County. He was buried in the cemetery until the Second World War. 1941 September 11 The Jewish community of Seirijai town was destroyed in Baraučiškės village. (953 Seirian Jews shot: 229 men, 384 women and 340 children).
