We opened the summer season with the "Švarinam Ančia" campaign organized by the Lazdijai Tourism Information Center, which has become a tradition! We swam in kayaks, enjoyed the wonderful nature of Kapčiamiestis and the great weather, and we did a very important job - we collected garbage from the Baltosios Ančias river and its shores. This is already the 14th action "Švarinam Ančia" and the third year that we contribute to the international initiative that promotes cleaning rivers and their banks River Cleanup Lithuania. We thank the organizers of this initiative for the gloves and garbage bags!
This year, we not only swam on the river, "collected" finds, but also visited the Emilia Pliaterytė Museum in Kapčiamiestis. Lazdija district weekly The elder of Kapčiamiestis, Virginijus Goliks, introduced us to the exposition and the second edition of the newspaper "Bakūžė", published 100 years later. All participants of the campaign were also surprised by Žydrūnos Baidarės. Before swimming, the participants were treated to excellent coffee from the mobile "Coffee Wheels". We thank you for such a surprise and invite everyone who swims the White Duck to try this extraordinary entertainment - to drink coffee right in the kayak! At the end of the track, as every year, a heated sauna awaited us at the Baltoji Ančia campsite. We thank Dalia Ravinskiene for her hospitality and long-term friendship. We are extremely happy that more and more people are concerned about environmental pollution. Growing public awareness, improving the waste management system, sustainability - all this is the way to a healthier ecosystem, cleaner soil and water.
